Can Colleagues be Personal Friend?

The radio station was discussing a topic, can colleagues be your personal friend?

The argument of course with two sided. Some audience called in and said "NO".
They said there is always no friend friend stories among colleague. Colleagues are colleagues, you can never relax with them, as they are reminding you the workplace, and your works.

I love someone said, "OF COZ colleagues can be friends. Friend is meant for chut mai (betray in English). Therefore, it is okay to betray colleagues. As if you do not golden point (said some bad things about colleagues), then you are not qualified to be promoted."

And I also love a girl's innocent. She said as long as she has the capability, she is not afriad of the colleagues golden point her. So she is fine to have colleagues as friends. And she is closed with them.

What I think would be, it is really depends on the person's position in the company, and the job scope.

If you think your job has no threat, for example, if you were an admin clerk. Then to get colleagues as friends is okay, it would not affect you. And probably you won't be able to get too close with the bosses/colleagues.

If you were a higher ranking management staff, say manager. It is better for you to keep a distance, as it would be easier for you to work or assign jobs.

It is important to differentiate where workplace is, and where fun place is. Do not mix up them!
