子不教, 父之过...If direct translate this phrase, this mean the fault from a son, it's the fault of the father.
Well, why Chinese said this?
It's parents' responsibility to teach the kids to be good. They have to be in good faith. If they were not, it's because the kids are lack of education from the parents. Of course, that's the fault of the parents, since never put effort to teach the kids. They give birth of the kids, and it's their responsibility to teach the kids.
This phrase can be applied to superior as well. When a superior does not teach the subordinate how to behave in the company, and convey the message of company direction, of course the subordinate will not understand the total picture of the company is doing.
The peoples might lost of direction, and start to behave funny. It's the superior responsibility and obligation to rectify this kind of problems.
If the sons or the subordinates are not well educated, then in Hokkien, we called them "boh tak chet" (no study book). Or you can say them "mou gah gao" or "yao yeh sang mou lah gao" in Cantonese. It means, "no family education" or "got mother give birth no dad teaches" if I direct translate.

i would say that some parents just couldn't care about how their children behave. even some of them are my personal friends. to them, they are still kids who don't know so don't need to punish
Hai...sometimes not really punish. But a lead to right way is important. But since the parents are still like kids, can't expect them to teach the kids too.
